BAYBAYIN'S EYE-OPENING EXPOSITION

An eye-opening exposition on the pictographic significance of each script
from Baybayin, the ancient script of the Philippines

The "LA" script, written as , is taken from the stylized drawing of the male organ, therefore, the first letter of the word LALAKE (man), represents the male principle.
The "BA" script, written as , is the stylized drawing of the female organ, hence, the first letter of the word BABAE (woman), signifying the female principle.

The "KA" script is written as , composed of two lines or stakes tied together,
strongly suggests the idea of union, cohesion and related concepts.
The eight rays of the sun represent the eight Tagalog provinces
which took arms against the Spaniards. The Katipuneros, led by
Andres Bonifacio, launched the first national liberation in Asia on August 23, 1896.
